What is Dry Vermouth?

Dry Vermouth is a type of flavored wine that is associated with France. To make Vermouth wine producers will fortify wine with grape brandy to increase the alcohol level to at least 16%. Vermouth was originally created using herbs that were considered to have healing properties. They included wormwood, nutmeg, juniper, and cinnamon. Wormwood, which is also used in absinthe, is what gives Vermouth is distinctive flavor. Another type of Vermouth is sweet Vermouth, which is associated with Italy.
